The Complete Guide - Green Print Plant Care Hub
To care for plants growing in water, give them suitable indirect light, maintain the recommended water level, refresh the water regularly, keep the vase clean, and provide appropriate hydroponic nutrients.
A little care. A lot of growing.
Welcome to your plant’s happy place. Whether you’ve brought home your first Green Print arrangement or you’re adding to a growing collection, we’re here to help you keep it thriving. Our plants grow in water, with their roots on display and no soil to worry about. A bright spot, fresh water, and a little attention go a long way.

Where should you place your plant?
Most of our plants enjoy bright, indirect light - a well-lit space where strong sunlight doesn’t fall directly on the leaves. Near a window with a sheer curtain is a lovely place to start. Keep your arrangement away from heating vents, air conditioners, and cold drafts.
How much water should you add?
Check the water level every few days, especially during warmer weather. Keep the roots supplied with water while leaving leaves and the plant’s crown - the point where the leaves emerge - above the surface. Follow the water level recommended for your arrangement instead of filling the vase to the top.
How often should you change the water?
For a simple starting routine, refresh the water every week or two, sooner if it becomes cloudy or develops an odor. When changing the water, gently rinse the roots and clean away any buildup inside the vase. Handle roots carefully, especially when lifting a plant through a narrow bottle opening. Use room-temperature water.
Do plants growing in water need fertilizer?
Yes. Water is your plant’s home, but healthy long-term growth also needs nutrients. Choose a complete fertilizer labeled for hydroponic growing and follow its dilution instructions for your plant and setup. Mix it with water before adding it to the vase. Extra fertilizer won’t speed up growth and can damage roots.
How should you clean the leaves?
Gently wipe dusty leaves with a soft, damp cloth. It’s a small step that helps your plant make the most of the light it receives.

How do you care for Monstera in water?
Bold leaves. Beautiful roots. A little tropical drama. Give your Monstera bright, indirect light and enough room for its leaves to spread. Turn the vase occasionally if it begins leaning toward the window. Good to know: Young leaves may grow without the familiar splits and holes. Leaf shape changes as the plant matures, and light conditions also play a part.

How do you care for Pothos and Marble Pothos in water?
Easygoing greenery that grows with you.
Pothos is a forgiving choice for new plant parents. It tolerates lower light, although brighter indirect light supports stronger growth. Give Marble Pothos a bright spot to help maintain its creamy leaf patterns. Let the vines trail naturally, or trim them with clean scissors when you prefer a more compact shape. Watch for: Long stretches of stem with small, widely spaced leaves may mean your plant needs more light.

How do you care for Satin Pothos in water?
Soft silver patterns with a graceful trailing habit.
Despite its name, Satin Pothos is a different plant from regular Pothos. It enjoys bright, indirect light that shows off its silver markings without exposing the leaves to harsh sun. Watch for: Curling leaves are a reason to check the water level, roots, and room conditions. They don’t always mean the plant needs more water.

How do you care for Anthurium in water?
Glossy leaves with a colorful finishing touch.

How do you care for a Prayer Plant in water?
Patterned leaves with a little evening movement.
Our Prayer Plant, Maranta leuconeura, enjoys gentle, indirect light, warmth, and higher humidity. Keep it away from dry air blowing from vents. Good to know: Its leaves often lift or fold upward in the evening. That movement is part of its charm. Watch for: Brown edges can be linked to dry air or water quality. If they persist, try distilled or reverse-osmosis water alongside an appropriate hydroponic nutrient routine.
